Which Water Should You Order in Mallorca? Glass vs PET, Still vs Sparkling

Sin gas or con gas? Glass or PET? Local spring or Alpine import? If you’re staring at a water shelf (or our shop) wondering what to order for your stay in Mallorca, here’s the honest guide.

First: can’t I just drink the tap water?

You can — but in most of Mallorca you probably won’t enjoy it. The island’s tap water is safe but often hard and chlorinated, and in some rural areas fincas run on well water. The vocabulary

• Sin gas = still water (the default in Spain)
• Con gas = sparkling
• Mild / medium = lightly carbonated — the German-style middle ground

Glass vs PET

• Returnable glass crates — best taste, most sustainable, small refundable deposit. The driver takes the empties back, so the usual downside (hauling crates) doesn’t apply when we deliver. Perfect for villas and longer stays.
• PET packs — light and practical for the beach, the boat and day trips. No deposit on most single-use packs.

How much water for your stay?

In Mallorcan summer, plan at least 2 litres per person per day — more with kids, sport or a pool in the sun. For a family of four and a week, that’s a solid 60+ litres: exactly the kind of order you don’t want to carry through a supermarket.
